Eagle Square

Dartan Lang or Eagle Square is at the harbour near the capital Kuah. According to legend the island gets its name from 'Helang' of 'Lang' for short, which means eagle and 'Kawi' meaning reddish brown.  At the square there is a very impressive eagle sculpture looking out to sea, and for visitors arriving by boat it will be the first thing they see.  The square also has landscaped gardens, shops and restaurants.

This shot was taken from about the same position as above but looking in the opposite direction, looking inland.

As you can probably tell it had just been raining but we weren't troubled for long.
