Gurgaon is one of the main cities in the state of Haryana. It has been undergoing major expansion over the last few years as more companies move their offices out from the centre of Delhi. Gurgoan is approximately 20km south west of Delhi on the major road to Jaipur. This road is National Highway 8 which is currently undergoing major upgrading to have 8 lanes, with many junctions having flyovers. The work is due to be completed at the end of 2005. In the meantime the journey to Delhi can be very slow, usually taking about an hour to get to the capital.
One of the features of Gurgaon is that it has many mall that have opened in the last couple of years with at least four or five more to come. They are mixed venues, with shops, restaurants, bars and cinemas. These are even popular with the Dellites, and get really busy in the evenings. Most shops in India are open from about 11am to 9pm.
This is the City Centre Mall on the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (or M-G) Road. It is right opposite the Metropolitan Mall, and is about 10 minutes walk from Laburnum. To go from one mall to the other you have to cross the road, but there is no pedestrian crossing. So its dodge the vehicles time, though sometimes the force of numbers of pedestrians will force the traffic to stop.
